Indian Gooseberry, popularly known as Amla is the fruit of a commonly cultivated tree in India with botanical name Phyllanthus Emblica. This fruit is revered in the ancient Indian medicine, Ayurveda, as the fruit of immortality. It is widely used in various ayurvedic preparations for thousands of years to treat conditions like diabetes, digestive disorders, heart disease, skin disease, respiratory infections, etc.

Amala is a herb which is commonly grown in the Indian subcontinent and finds mention in our Vedic texts for its exceptionally powerful, almost magical powers to cure multiple disorders. Amala is rich in nutrients such as dietary fibers, carbohydrates, proteins; and in vitamins and minerals.

Nutrition found in Amla

The Indian gooseberry or amla is abundant in vitamin C and vitamin A. It also contains high levels of folic acid and minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, carotene, and magnesium. Health benefits of Amla

 Consuming Indian gooseberry regularly helps improve vision health. It also makes the eye muscles stronger and provides relaxation to the eyes when they are tired and stressed.

A study conducted in 2010 proved that the regular intake of the Indian gooseberry treated and reversed cataract in lab rats.

2.Treat cold and cough

Health experts suggest that regular consumption of amla juice can effectively help treat conditions such as cold, cough and flu.
To cure cold and cough, consume two teaspoons of amla juice with equal amount of honey everyday.
It can also help get rid of mouth ulcers. For this, mix a couple of teaspoons of amla juice in water and gargle twice every day.

3.Prevents Heart Diseases

Gooseberries have been proven to improve heart health. Amla powder strengthens the heart muscles, so the blood circulation is more effective throughout the body. By reducing excess cholesterol buildup, chromium in amla powder can reduce the chances of atherosclerosis or plaque buildup in the vessels and arteries. This may reduce the chances of stroke and heart attack. The iron content in amla also promotes the creation of new red blood cells, thereby increasing circulation and the oxygenation of organs and cells to maximize growth and regeneration of tissues.

Vitamin C, a significant constituent of Amla, is a potent antioxidant that has been reported to reduce oxidative stress. Thus, prevent the development and progression of hypertension. Amla oil for hair fall & hair regrowth

Amla oil contains Vitamin C and is highly effective in rescuing from hair fall and regrowth. The oil is directly applied on the scalp and massaged for a few minutes, for its complete absorption, so that it can impart health benefits.

To prevent hair fall, massage the scalp with a mixture of two teaspoons of amla oil along with two teaspoons of lemon juice. The amla oil should be left until it dries, and it can be rinsed later with warm water.
